Laid out in 1870, Cubbon Park covers around 300 acres between MG Road and the Vidhana Soudha. Inside are the red Gothic Attara Kacheri (the High Court), the Sheshadri Iyer Memorial Hall (the State Central Library), the Government Aquarium and a children's play area (Bal Bhavan).

Several roads inside the park are closed to traffic on weekends and holidays, which makes it a favourite for runners, families and the city's growing number of reading and art groups.
