BMTC buses
Bengaluru has one of India's largest city bus fleets. Women travel free on ordinary BMTC buses under the state's Shakti scheme. Most routes start from the big hubs at Majestic (Kempegowda Bus Station), Shivajinagar, KR Market and Shantinagar.
Autos
Autorickshaws are meant to charge by the meter, but many drivers quote fixed prices, especially at night and in tech corridors. Booking through an app gives you an upfront fare.
Cabs
Uber, Ola, Rapido and other apps operate throughout the city. Surge pricing is common during rain and peak hours.
Traffic
Peak traffic runs roughly from 8:30 to 11 am and from 5:30 to 9 pm. Outer Ring Road, Silk Board junction, Hebbal and Whitefield are well-known bottlenecks.
